Voting and Banquet

Red Masquers Voting Site!
All eligible candidates for this year's executive board election will have their speeches posted in the Red Masquers office and now online! The voting site is available at http://sites.google.com/site/durm2009, and contains all of the necessary information about voting and this year's smashing array of candidates for such illustrious positions as president, vice president, secretary, historian, and the hero (pun intended) of them all - Ham Sandwich! Please take careful consideration when voting for next year's board, as a strong board will lead a strong organization.

Banquet
Banquet information is still available here on the announcement blog. If you need a ride, email redmasquers@gmail.com and we will hook you up! The Masquers are like Carousel; you'll never walk alone...to Bloomfield. Get your $10 in to John Lane's mailbox by April 24th or you will not be able to attend and this shall cause infinite sadness on your part and ours. Also, be sure to put on your Sunday best for Banquet. This is our formal event of the year.

Voting
Voting will take place starting on Monday the 27th in the English Office on the sixth floor of College Hall. You MUST sign your name on the checklist and then submit your ballot (with a check mark next to Joe Jasek's name for Ham Sandwich). Voting closes Thursday the 30th at 4:30pm, so make sure to vote for Joe Jasek for Ham Sandwich before the office closes on Thursday!

To All Candidates:

Please post your written speech in the Red Masquers office as soon as possible and also send a copy to redmasquers@gmail.com for online distribution. Your speeches will be posted on the Red Masquers Voting Site available here. Candidates for Ham Sandwich will find special instructions for this year's race here.

Important Meeting This Friday

End-of-Year Meeting Friday, April 17, 2009 at 6pm
We will have our bi-annual general meeting on Friday, April 17 at 6pm in Peter Mills Theater. The most important thing we will discuss at this time is the executive board and chair positions for next year. As it has gone in the past, the position of secretary will go to the best-looking and most-talented Masquer. If you are interested in running for a position you MUST attend this meeting. If you are interested in attaining a chair position (lights, sound, set, house, social, hair and make-up, public relations, costume), please speak to the current chair of that position. If you are a chair and a senior, you should be looking for and training a replacement. [Cue Tommy Lee Jones at the end of Men in Black, "I wasn't looking for a partner, J. I was looking for a replacement." (tear)] We need AS MANY MASQUERS AS POSSIBLE to come to this meeting for nominations. We will also be discussing the details of Banquet, details of which are here.

See you all on Friday!

Important End-of-Semester Information

One Acts becomes Showcase
To save our sanity at the end of the semester and showcase our talents on multiple levels, this year's One Acts for Charity has been changed to a Directing II and Playwriting I & II showcase. Eight plays by the Playwrighting students will be directed by Duquesne's first-ever crop of Directing II students. We will still hold auditions (to be announced at a later date) as we would have for One Acts, and since this project requires so many parts there is no lack of opportunities to get involved! We will also be collecting money for a charity to be determined, so there are no losers in this equation. The Showcase will be held on April 29, our Reading Day, to leave everyone free to enjoy Banquet and Finals Week without worrying about their extracurricular theater activities. This leads to our next announcement...

Banquet!
Woo! Banquet is scheduled for Friday May 1 this year. Keep your calendars open! Banquet is our end of the year get-together at a local restaurant to celebrate all that we have accomplished over the year. Anyone involved in a Red Masquers show this year is invited. Guests are also welcome. More information is coming soon. Speaking of Banquet...
